Cancellations and changes to the rental agreement
ISK 1,500 is charged If the tenant wishes to return or change the rental agreement, a request must be sent by email to orlof@efling.is with information about the tenant's name and ID number, along with the agreement number.
- The tenant can cancel a house up to 14 days before the stay for a full refund, minus the booking fee. The refund will be credited to the account registered with the tenant.
- The tenant can cancel the house up to 7 days before the stay for a 50% refund, less the booking fee. If Efling staff manages to rent the house out during the mentioned time period, a 75% refund , less the booking fee. The refund will be credited to the account registered with the tenant.
- If the rental agreement is returned later
(less than 7 days notice),
there is no refund.
Weather/unsafe conditions
If the tenant is unable to enter the holiday home due to weather/road conditions, notification must be sent before the rental period begins by email to orlof@efling.is. A prerequisite for a refund due to weather is that the Icelandic Meteorological Office has issued a warning. Travel to and from holiday homes is the sole responsibility of the tenant and Efling will not pay for any costs that the tenant may incur due to bad weather conditions. It is important to familiarize yourself with the weather forecast and road conditions before setting off.

Illness
Notification must be sent to the email address orlof@efling.is before the rental period begins, and the Holiday Fund is also authorized to request that the renter present a medical certificate.
- A full refund will be given, minus the initial fee stated on the rental agreement.
- Refunds are made to the account registered with the tenant.
- Rent is never refunded if notice is received after the rental period begins.
