What is important to watch out for?
Employment contract
It is important to receive a written employment contract, which includes the following information:
full name of employee and employer, workplace, work rate, job description, salary, pension fund, collective agreement and union membership.
Write down the time you have spent
Employers are required to keep track of their employees' working hours using a time recording system. However, such systems are not always accurate and can be unreliable.
Therefore, it is important that you keep good track of all your working hours. If you need the help of your union, having reliable and well-recorded information about your working hours can be crucial.
Payslip
Pay slips should show all salary terms and deductions , including taxes, pension contributions, membership fees, and other things deducted from wages.
It is very important to check your payslip every time you get paid and compare the information with the salary that is deposited into your bank account. The payslip is essentially your receipt for the payment of government fees .
If you do not receive paychecks , you are personally responsible for any unpaid taxes or other fees – a responsibility that should rightfully lie with the employer.
Your pay slip must indicate that you have paid union dues . This ensures your rights , such as access to funds, legal aid, and other rights that come with union membership.
Communication with the employer
If problems arise in the workplace, we encourage you to contact Efling. It is important that communication with your employer is in writing , for example via email or other means of communication.
